Anyway, my given name is Freda Marcia Husted-Downs. I am a 5'6", 160 lb. used-to-be-red head. I am inmy 50's ( born in 1949, you do the math. That way I don't have to keep changing this page), very young in my family
time frame. As My most precious friend my Grandpop-poo told me on my 40th
birthday (he was 85 at the time), “ Li'l’ Freda you ain’t half way there yet.” And he’s
RIGHT. This dis-ease IS NOT going to end it! I am only
2/3 the way there! I AM going to get there or further.. and without the American Medical Association's chemicals! I have discovered I have breast cancer and I refuse to use the “western / traditional" cures. But, let me finish with who I / we are and then I will explain the rest. Okay? Thanks. Here is a basic discription of me and everyone else involved. I promise not to get too involved- but I want this to be a REASSURING and INFORMATIVE site to anyone who comes to our war. I was born June 3, 1949, so, as of this original writing, I was 51.50 years old. I have been married 2 times and have had a life partner for 20 years on Super Bowl Sunday, 2001. I have a year plus of college and and am Master Tailor, plus lots more experience in other fields( you learn a lot to keep from going hungry). I manage a VERY small dry cleaner shop and am the tailor for the 3 operations in the business, it does usually stay pretty busy for me. I have three children. Chris, born in 1968 , Jason, my “osmosis son” I acquired as part of the package 20 years ago. He was born in 1972, and my daughter, Nicole, born in 1975. I have three granddaughters. Kayla Nicole, Chris daughter, 4 years old and Nicci’s two, Daria Marcia, my first born grand baby, now 5 yrs. and Lea Nicole, now 2. Nicci and her family are in Maine since July 1999.I miss them much but, keep in good contact via the Internet. Kayla lives here in Reno and we see her on a pretty regular basis. My mate and I have done a lot. We spent 1and a half years in the back country on horseback and living off the land. Then we built a solar powered covered wagon and went from the Pacific to the Atlantic and back. With each other, as with ALL of our family , no matter what we go through, we stick by each other and the love is there! I have 1 full sister, Cindy, 4 years younger, who is one my strongest allies and 2 brothers, Harold, 2 years younger, and Michael, 6 years younger. I have 2 half sisters, Nancy, 4 years older and Jay, 13 years younger. My Father was very prolific. Whoopee! I put all this family stuff in here because, if you choose to follow this site you are going to be exposed to a lot of family interaction. One reason is so my family has a way to vent , if they wish, and to accept and heal. Another reason is, if you are going through the same things, you'll know that your family reactions are normal. Also, because I don't want you to feel alone or as frustrated as we have, I want this site to be a "clearing house" for all Folks involved with Cancer, but, especially, for WOMEN”S Cancers! AND WE WILL FIND WAYS!!! We will find ways to deal with it without resorting to the cut, slash and burn methods. I don't know about you, but, to me, the QUALITY of life is more important than the QUANTITY and so far, mine has been one helluva ride! Before I go further, I want to say that this total Web Site has been built as a TRUE LABOR OF LOVE by my Mate. He wants to do ALL he can to help me and our girls and the women of the world. He has watched and experienced the frustrations and anger of dealing with traditional medical people, and he believes, as I do, that Earth Mother has provided help, we just have to find it. Please enjoy the love and expertise he is putting into OUR site. This site is for ALL of us! We NEED a CLEARING HOUSE of Natural / Alternative information. I have spent TOO many hours on the 'Net with the best search engines and still get the same basic tripe . Maybe if we can supply EACH other with information and encouragement, both female and male, we WILL beat our dis-ease without chemicals!! With the Love and Support from our families and each other, we can help PREVENT what we have and worse, through education and spreading the information when we find it. There is good, basic stuff out there that we will document when we find it. I am gathering information. It’s tough. Not much available. As this page kicks into gear and grows, it will do so because of the efforts of all of us. Please excuse me. You'll have to get used to me. When I am excited, enraged or on a tangent, I tend to go to the side and round about . BUT, I PROMISE , I ALWAYS come full circle and back to the point! Frank has been around me long enough to know this and has promised not to edit me too much as he incorporates my writing into the web page. Sometimes my side trips add some enlightenment and usually a chuckle or two. Thank you for reading this far! As for the rest of the site, the Diary section will grow steadily. And during the first pages of it, I explain why don't have a regular AMA Doctor and refuse to have a biopsy! Also, in the Diary section and in the other areas and links in the site, I will be supplying whatever research and information I come across or use. I welcome your input to the process with whatever information you have or find. I have hit such a VAST wasteland out there! Doctors and Nurses won't even answer such simple questions as, "How am I going to feel as a whole?" or "What else am I going to feel, physically, besides the lump?” They say they can't tell me a thing without a biopsy. They can't tell me how other Cancer patients have felt? And Websites? Most of them want to sell me a book. Few offer any real information. Well, this is one site that will NOT try to sell you anything, although we have some helpful wellness links you can explore on your own.
