I basically eat pretty well, always have, but have made a few adjustments.
LOTS AND LOTS of Water- and vitamins and other treatments disbursed throughout day-
which also regulates my eating habits as some need to be on empty stomach. Morning: Flor-Essence upon awakening.(6:00). After I get to work, herb tea- usually decaf green tea. Then (an hour or so later-7-8:00) either P & J sandwich on toasted whole grain and nut bread with 1 tbs. ground flax seed mixed in, or oatmeal with 1 tbs. ground flax seed or,as a treat, bacon and tomato sandwich on toasted whole grain bread, with fruit cup or apple sauce with 1 tbs. flax seed. Mid morning: Barley juice. Lunch: Usually leftovers, or sandwich - either with salad, vegetables of some kind, or soup. I mix more flax seed with the soup or veggies or fruit. Sometimes have fruit juice or V-8 but usually water. Some days I’m just not hungry or am nauseous, but try to eat enough to get something on my tummy for the other stuff I have to take. I Don’t have a real large appetite and sometimes it’s just a CHORE to eat. Mid afternoon: Barley juice When I get home by 4:00 I may get into the Rice Crackers and nuts snackies, but a handful or two is usually enough. As we are preparing and with supper I may have a glass or two of wine, and supper usually is a salad, veggies -usually both, and some kind of meat (pork, seafood, chicken or beef) but, not being a big meat eater, 1-2 oz. is usually enough for me. I do realize we need some protein in our systems. and although we can get it from veggies, I feel better this way (I have been hypoglycemic for over 20 years. I have studied a lot of nutrition). I LOVE baked sweet potatoes and squashes- so they are a 1- 2 times a week thing. Often we have pasta-spinach/ cheese raviolis with garlic/cheese, sometimes Mexican stuff, sometimes oriental. but usually all the basic food groups- heavy on veggies. Dessert is rare in our house as we have both discovered that chocolate, sugar, ice cream, etc. just keep us awake (miserably), so as much as we loved those things, we gave them up years ago (Oh, there’s the occasional cream puff, and the regret later. We are far from saints!) Weekends are usually about the same as above with it being more of a “brunch” for 2 meals as lately I REALLY sleep in- body needs the time to heal! Update to Diet 1/8/01 After Reading Dr. Quillan’s Book, “Beating Cancer With Nutrition”, I realized I need more protien thatn I am getting. So I have adjusted accordingly: IP6 in Hot water upon getting up, then Ginger or Decaf Green Tea, when first at work, with Ambrotose mixed in. Egg Salad sandwiches or P & J , for breakfast , with fruit or yougert to mix my flax in. Hummus and veggies on pita, or tuna on pita, or leftovers, with some sort of veggie salad. V-8 juice mid afternoon after my Barley Juice. More veggies and some kind of protein at night(even Boca Burgers), or pasta with some sauce. With more fruit for the flax and Ambrotose. Just fruit and Flax for Frank. More IP6 before bed. Just a quick update on this (7/12/01) 5-01: We were into Boca Burgers(soy) and soy milk- never had cow’s milk in the house! But with that we also are eating a flax based cereal, and fruit. Found that Fresh strawberries, flax and soymilk are pretty good! Am doing some smoothies with the s. milk, soft tofu and fruit- but need to get a blender as cleaning the food processor is a pain! Doctored up Miso soup from Trader Joe’s is a 1-2 week favorite (Best buy and nutrition) and I make egg rolls with fresh veggies and shrimp(you can stretch the 1 1/2 lb. bag frozen shrimp from Costco for over 4 meals this way. And I always add some to the soup! Unless the kids show up! Have found a local chain grocery that carries organic meats and veggies- so you Know where we shop! I wish I had gotten a garden in- but we need to purify our soil and then bring in some topsoil!! Hopefully - next year- this spring just got away from us. OTHER SELF HELP! I ALWAYS have Lavender around me. It is the basis for all my bath salts.Lotions and potions. I enjoy other essences too- but lavender is there within them all. I wear a very old ring with very spiritual connections and meanings for me with Lapis-lazuli and onyx and my totem - “cougar” on a necklace and also in a ring made by my son Jason. I wear a copper and turquoise moon bracelet I made to help against arthritis in my hand along with my Black hills gold and gems band from my mate. I do full foot massage every day or so- hitting all the accupressure points for healing and pain. I also full massage my ears almost every morning. I also take my meditation/prayer time for myself and others (Sometimes I flat fall to sleep). I keep in touch with my inner and worldly spirits, and use this time to draw strength and energy into my being from the universe and Mother Earth. My studying of Reiki has helped this. Even through all of this my Kundalini (chi) has been very strong except when I am too busy and tired at/from work to think about it. Most of what I have discussed above has come from many sources, or instinct, but a good resource for A LOT of Female Problems and healing - especially the aromas, accupressure points, stones, etc.... is: THE NATURAL REMEDY BOOK FOR WOMEN By Diane Stein. Publisher : The Crossing Press, Freedom, CA 95019. I have not checked yet but am sure they probably now have a web address, and any reputable bookstore can order this book for you. |
