Flags at half-staff...News coverage abounding...A sad reminder of a year ago.
Today was Wednesday- Kayla Day. A first grader with SO many questions and some of them hard to answer. As she saw our flag flying at 1/2 , I asked her if she knew what that meant..”That people are sad today, because those buildings caught fire. ” I also added it was to show respect for all the people who went to heaven because of those fires. A little bit later she asked Frank about singing the Nat’l Athem, and “It’s A Grand Old Flag”, which he did. After They were done, I told her about when I was in Kindergarten and had to learn the Anthem, that I could sing it real good- all the way to the end where it goes..Let Freda Sing!
She thought that was hysterical. Of course she corrected me- but that’s what I thought the words were 48 years ago- and I bellowed it out so proudly! And that little critter won’t forget that either! And then she proudly helped her Pop-pop take down and fold the flag before supper.
Since we live on the backside of Stead AFB, and this is the Air Race Week, we have ALOT of planes and jets flying over and around us this week. They have been practicing since last week and trials/eliminations started today.
We are used to it, and tolerate it for the time it lasts. And all the neat planes are fun to look out at now and again. But- today I heard a plane coming in low, and hard, right over me, and just as he did...a LOUD Harley went streaming by! Talk about getting a few more white hairs!!! I didn’t know which way to run! ‘Til I saw the Harley! Whew!!!
Politicians want to make 9-11 a National Holiday. Peoples’ reactions? “NO, I don’t want my G-children 10-20-30 years from now , out on a buying frenzy for the BIG 9-11 Sale- and forgetting this was the day their G-father,G-mother, parent, relative was killed!“
I agree! This should be a Rememberance Day - unfortunately- it will be remembered for many years. Especially with the current wave of politicians- who are still trying to send us to war. My opinion on this is the same as previous wars (political actions)- STOP sending our young and healthy out there to be slaughtered! Send those damned old politicians, generals, etc. LET THEM Duke it out! Enough said.... as I could rant on this for along time!
But these are the same people who are telling us that Mammograms, chemicals, radiations, etc. are GOOD for us! So what can we expect! I quess it counts on whose hand is in whose back pocket. And the large drug/medical care corporations are spending trillions of dollars to convince us that theirs is the way to go.
A Dear friend lost his (step) mother to Breast cancer a few weeks ago. Her death certificate just arrived ...cause of death? Cardiac Arrest!
No Kidding!
When we ALL die it is because our hearts stop beating! It seems that they are not truly stating death causes these days. To keep the count down? Unfortunately for them, my friend is a Research Dr. into Cancer Causes and and knows what she had and what the complications were that eventually caused her “cardiac arrest”!
I have been retrospective enough for one day I think.
It has been busy here in the shop.. But thankfully it has cooled down into the 80’s daytimes and 40’s nights. So sleep is more sound, when I get there. My appetite and energy levels have picked up with the cooler weather- a good thing I am sure. I still can tell when I am pumping out toxins- my lymphs REALLY work O.T. The beautiful desert sage is in full bloom right now, so allergies are going crazy. And somedays I smell like I haven’t had a shower in a week - when it was just a couple of hours ago. Thankfully, it it usually just me, the critters and Frank around here- and none of them care. And any “pop-in” neighbors have the courtesy not to say anything, if they notice.
Enjoy the beautiful late summer weather we are having- our hummerbirds are all gone south now, occasionally get a stray migrater- but that is all. But we will leave the feeders up a few more weeks for them.
My tomatoes went in SO late this year I just started getting some ripe ones this past week. So I think I will try the recipe Dolly sent me for Green Tomato Relish (it looks like what my G-mom used to make- and I am Really amped to try it!).I have alot of those green ones- and they didn’t get too large this year- but even at the Farmer’s Markets they have been commenting on the lack of size they got....Drought, high temps, etc.
Good night all, it’s late and it’s tubby time.
