Oct 5, 2001 Am tired- but want to catch up on a few things, non-political, seems that’s all anyone talks about these days- and the economy. We manage last month to save enough from my extra sewing and Frank’s commercials for a commercial sewing machine for the shop. Called all around here , but finally got a deal on a new(as opposed to a rebuilt locally) for 1/2 the price- including the shipping. It arrived last Fri. and after Frank got it assembled seemed to run good except the thread and bobbincase tension. Anyway- after a few more days of frustration- got the Co. to handle it, and a new part should be on it’s way today. We have a very Good man, at Weschester Sewing, we’re dealing with in NY , that’s why we dealt with him , he took good care of us when we bought the iron a few months ago. But in the meantime, pulled out the old Kenmore as Frank brought home a ton of work for me yesterday. Also Frank has been worrried about the heat situation for me this winter in the garage/shop I use. We had an old 2-barrel (50 gal drum) woodstove we have used this passed couple of winters- but only for a few hours at a time- and it tended to leak smoke other lethal gasses. So he’s been saving and finally found us a second hand airtight woodstove- county approved. It’s a beaut- with a glass door for esthetic value- but should heat the whole area- much more safely. He and Chris- and 2 of Chris’ friends went over and got it today- needed those burly guys to move it- even with a handtruck!!! It will be a few before it’s hooked up- but that’s ok- the weather is way warm yet anyway! But I think the dogs are trying to tell us something- and the other critters...Even though it’s been 80’s-90’s days , both dogs are putting on Heavy undercoats!!! And there has been a Heavy infestation of little critters getting indoors. Other folks have said the same- first time in years- and bold little critters-Stop and look at you as they run past! There seems to be a run on mice traps at the local stores, because many- like us- won’t use poisons! We are looking into getting herbal products and/or an electronic device. Would prefer those deterents- but am desperate at this point, so until we can get them will use the traps. I should be sewing on Nicci’s Dress- but am beat- it’s been a busy day/week. At least I will hopefully have the time this weekend so Frank can get it mailed out on Mon(or Tues- if PO is closed for Columbus Day) . It is good I am busy- means we made the right choice on me being here. But am trying to take some AM time to continue healing- or at least not to backslide. That is an important thing. And especially with the full moon this week it has been rough sleeping this week. Other survivors (including relapses a few times) have told me the following- but didn’t believe it until now.. There is a hard part in fighting this thing; you feel better- and get a Temporary clean bill, and you tend to slide back into the old, easy habits of eating and health. It is hard sometimes to remember to take all the stuff,( and you flat get tired of all of it) and get enough rest, And you don’t want to waste the $ if it is not necesssary- But it IS!!! So discipline is important- but nobody ever said I had much of that or routine. I must settle down and control myself better. Because I won’t be of any use to anyone if I don’t. |
