Nov. 28, 2002 Happy Thanksgiving One and All!!!! I have been blessed enough to make yet another Turkey Feast for my Family! And there are a few oinkers roaming around. Having the love and good natured joking of them around while I finished preparations felt good! And after dinner, Kayla got to watch “Spirit” while the rest of us semi -watched and snoozed in piggyness. Got brave enough to try a Pecan Pie for a different dessert- plus a pumpkin/sweet potatoe pie. No recipe for the latter- the pumpkin just didn’t yield enough and wouldn’t mash real good last night- so I zapped a couple of Sweet potatoes and threw them in....Came out pretty good. And the Dark choco chip, bourbon soaked pecan pie was a Real hit! I know, sugar isn’t a good thing... but the nuts, maple syrup, and veggies in the pumpkin pie are!! Besides we had lots of healthy food too! And the turkey was moist and good. Does wonders to add Fresh herbs to the dressing and basting butter/wine. I hope my little Rosemary plant survives all my cooking. Definately need to get another one or two of those. It was wonderful to have my sons and Kayla here- but it would have been nice to have Nicci, Greg and girls here. But it isn’t exactly a few hour drive from Maine to here. But Nicci made her first turkey and had all her family and some friends over and apparently all were stuffed there- and she called when they settled down, so what more could one ask for? It’s been BUSY these past few weeks... with more to come. I have alot of stuff to try to get done for delivery on Monday. Had a touch of the flu/headcold this past couple of weeks- so it slowed me a tad. Tuesday is going to be spent at hospital with Chris - he gets another neck/spinal surgery. Hopefully this will end the problem, and he can get back to a normal life again. The Doctors are excellent- He’s in good hands there, but it still is a scary thing- But he’s asked me to put on a cheerful attitude about it- as he knows if I break, he will too. I think handing the situation over to a higher authority is probably the best move. Not much I can do anyway- except be there for him. Well, have a puppy asking to go out- it’s time for our stroll around the perimeter. It’s a good feeling to still be here- and fairly healthy- and to be Proof that it Can be done without the AMA approved cures!!! |
