6-23-01 Busy weekend already! Work was comfortable yesterday. Looks like for the present Kel and I have worked out Mondays and Fridays 12- 5. That helps them out and doesn’t conflict with the time I need for sewing/fitting etc. Chris left yesterday for LA for some Mgmt. training so we’ll take care of his fish and rat until next Tues. Not a problem. My Book got here yesterday- got my nose into and was horrified! I knew that by-products were put in Dogfood- but..cancerous and diseased parts from other animals??!!! And when the package says “Crude Protien”? That’s exactly it- crude undigestable protiens- like feathers, hair, etc. And more - the grains can be rancid leftovers from other factories, suppliers, etc. And ranicid fats cause Free Radicals- which cause cancer and other diseases! And those packages of soft food? Tons of corn syrup- to keep it moist- and all the foods have colorings that are outlawed for human consumtion. And why? for our benefit- and money! Because dogs and Cats can’t see colors. No wonder the critters of the world are dying of these things as rapidly as people. So.. needless to say... I am going to start making my own dogfood! The recipes are fairly easy- and interchangeable so far as ingredients. And look pretty cost effective. I am not going to let some careless company have the health of my critters in their hands. I don’t want to watch another critter die like poor Roc did. So at least I can exert a little more energy to give them the best chance they can get. Frank did windows for Dick and Katie Mariner this AM- I went along to talk with Katie. Then we picked up stuff from Terry Hall, then breakfast, feed the rat, the a B-day party for Ryan at Julie’s. Busy day so far. Now to get to work- for delivery Monday! |
