July 22, 2002 Kasha is really antsy and demanding tonight- either a lot of coyotes(haven’t heard them yet) or straying dogs around- she is really pushy for me to come outside. Of course, she now has the job of the goat girls to guard- and it’s almost a full moon! Frank has been on me to write more- but about my physical not much new- I remain the same...I have cut back to the minimum on my supplements- for a few reasons- we’ll see how that goes. We are eating very conciously and I have adjusted some of my other nasty habits(smoking and wine) so maybe it will balance. Getting to sleep early is still not working- but oh well! I AM glad Chris/ we got the goats. I enjoy Kasha and Cali Cat so much- But Kasha is not able to settle next to me with just my hand on her- she constantly demands attention. She Is settling though and maybe she will get less demanding. But I spend more time outside now - even if sometimes it is late at night , with the glorious skies and stars. I go to the stable and Shyly will curl up on my lap- and Alexa next to me- and as I stroke them , I sit and settle. I feel Earth Mother so much more again- Chris had a good idea- meant for his daughter- I don’t know if he realized how much it would help me. I know once they grow up and we breed them, my life style will change - they will need to be milked AM and PM- but that will be ok. We will have glorious milk, and ice cream and I will learn to make cheeses. I really am not a slug- it’s just this is the pattern of work/sleep I am have been in. And I accomplish as much in my 6-8 hrs as I did in 8-10 hours before. I do tire- but I think alot of us do after we hit way past 30. We had a hellacious downpour last Thurs. We had over an inch of water down in 10 minutes. Then it started pouring off the hills above us and washed out the ditches across the street and flood over to us( we are lower) for 20-30 minutes we had over 6 inches of water flowing into our property. Got some water into my shop, but nothing really damaged(had to dry out footpedal to hemmer before I could use it- and carpet got soaked in that corner). The barn where Chris’ motorcycle in rebuilding stage got some slop- but nothing drastic. Went to check the goaties midway through( pellets of 1/2 inch hailballs and buckets of water) and they were fine-watching for us - along with a ground squirrel -it’s home had been washed out) Was going to bring them into garage/Great room with us- but they were fine. Having been through flash floods before - and multi other Mother Nature rages- I really have no fear- except to protect the innocent critters- that we pen in. It was over in a bit over an hour and then Kasha had a ball running through the mud and deep puddles over and over. Cali Cat was a bit more distainful of the whole situation. All my tomatoe and peppers and herbs survived- by her grace I guess! Ok, that’s all that’s been going on beside normal family stuff and love. I am so grateful to my kids, sister and Frank for their love, I know I wouldn’t have gotten this far without them . And those Glorious sunsets- thank you Earth Mother!! |
