12-12 Another crazy day , and getting colder and cloudier. About 2:30 Jodi came in with tailoring fittings. She is ONE strong Lady. Has had 3 forms of cancer over the past 20 years, starting with a radical masectomy, but, she’s still kicking and biting and I Admire her courage and strength. She was getting real beat up with the chemo ,etc. and started using NONI JUICE to suppliment it and is looking/feeling better than she has in years. As I’m fitting her, Mrs. C. came in, w/daughter, explained more about her hubby’s condition and that his father had died from it, and his 1 sister is also diagnosed with it. It turns out that whenn he was 3, they were living in Tonapah, NV, and the 3 of them went to a rodeo. This was in1958. During the rodeo something started falling on their heads. He has radiation burns on his head still. This was during the time of the nuclear bomb testings going on at the time at Yucca Mountain. The other 3 members of his family, mother sister and brother do not have this disease. They were not at the rodeo, but, several other people who were there that day have it or have died from it. I introduced Jodi to Mrs. C. and they instantly connected. Jodi has such a Big heart and is so willing to help with advice and support. I see a very strong young lady in Mrs. C’s daughter, she is aware, and is accepting. A Very loving family. I let them finish while I finished marking Jodi. I had to get home , eat something, wrap Nicci‘s family’s presents so Frank could mail them in AM. As Frank and I drove back to town , I told him about the day’s events, and he started chuckling. He said,"Looks like we’re going to have to install a potbelly stove in the storefront, along with some rockers and a checkers board, maybe a tea pot, just for your people." Since we both know I am not a “group” person, but love the 1 on 1, and revel in introducing folks who can help and/or enjoy each other, we both chuckled over that. Then we had the Joy of going to Kayla’s Gymnastic competition! There is nothing more fun than going into a gym with about 30, 2-5 yr olds doing their thing!!! They each had their forte, and it was glorious watching them ! Just cute , and for the most part, uninhibited souls. Ah, the joy and innocence of youth! We were not expected, except by Chris, so the delight on Kayla’s face when she saw us- and poked her instructer (that’s my mommom and poppop- look!) really made the trip back into town worth it. Grabbed a Roasty Toasty Garlic Chicken pizza on the way home. I’m sure that on top the 1st burger in a month for lunch will make me pay. It’s late and wish I could crash, but brain won’t slow down. Stupid Freda. bBdy needs rest and to heal, and you have to work tommorrow. In a minute. Want to see what Jana’s E is about. Hey , Great! Jana wants to do a story on us at Channel 4, but, iss a little concerned about how to handle it. They do have a Very traditional medical reporter on staff. Sent her a quickie. probably better to not put 2 strong crusaders together. How about going from human interest side? Hope she’s still interested. Betty and I had planned to try to meet on Thursday. She left mess. on phone while we were out. Roger had some plans for her that day, could we wait. Sent her a quickie confirming. Giving up on tubby. Too damn cold out there anyway, and snowing. A quick shower, on to bed. Or maybe run some water in that little 2x4 tub and at least soak my hips and lower back? Ah, for the good old days when I could go forever on next to no sleep! |
